CIPHE Working Groups

CIPHE Technical Working Groups (TWGs)

The CIPHE’s Technical Working Groups focus on the following areas:

  • Water safety
  • Heating
  • Controls
  • Hot and cold water services
  • Above & below ground drainage
  • Renewables & low carbon.

The CIPHE’s Technical Programme is managed by the Technical Strategy Group (TSG) and a series of Technical Working Groups (TWGs). The Technical Strategy Group and Technical Working Groups maintain all the Institute’s technical initiatives and ensure technical developments are conveyed to members through publications, CPD activities and training events. The TWGs are central to the CIPHE’s research and educational aims.

The TWGs cover a range of areas and have representation from head office staff, CIPHE members and external resources. Meetings take place several times a year, currently virtually. Members with expertise in the following areas are welcomed to get involved.

Water Safety TWG

The Water Safety TWG is responsible for water safety and compliance with particular focus on Legionella, water temperature, water quality and regulations.

Heating TWG

The Heating TWG attends to all heat sources & fuels linked to heating, including Domestic, commercial and industrial.

Controls TWG

The prime focus of the Controls TWG is to deal with all aspects of heating or fluid controls.

Hot & Cold Water Services TWG

The Hot and Cold Water Services working group deals with all aspects of hot and cold water services including domestic, commercial and industrial.

Above & Below Ground Drainage TWG

The Above & Below Ground Drainage TWG reviews technical guidance on above and below ground drainage systems.

Low Carbon & Renewables TWG

The Low Carbon & Renewables group leads the way in providing low carbon/renewables guidance and in the development of relevant training provision.
