Unidentified pipework can cause confusion and even safety risks, particularly where hot, cold and gas lines run close together. Talon Manufacturing’s Identification Hinged Clips solve this problem with colour-coded clips that identify pipes at the point of installation.
Built using the same secure, 360° fixing as Talon's original Hinged Clips, the ID Clips are available in a range of colours to mark pipe runs at a glance - blue for cold, red for hot and yellow for gas, alongside grey and black options. For installers, tradespeople and homeowners alike, the benefit is immediate, allowing installers to identify pipe services at a glance while enhancing safety and reducing the risk of confusion without adding extra time or effort to the job.
Beyond colour-coding, the ID Clips carry all the practical benefits of the wider Hinged Clip range. Each clip is UV stabilised so colours won’t discolour or fade over time, resistant to warping or distortion caused by temperature change and rated to withstand temperatures from -22°C up to a safe operating maximum of 65°C, making them suitable for hot water pipes in domestic plumbing applications. The clips have a dovetail connection so they can be linked together for equal pipe spacing and multiple parallel pipe runs and are suitable for both internal and external domestic pipework installations.
Alongside the ID Clips are Identification Spacers, which fit to the base of Talon Hinged Clips, MDPE Clips and Snap-in Open Clips, adding 13mm of clearance from the fixing surface. This allows insulation to still be fitted around the pipe without compromising the clip's hold. The Identification Spacers are available in black, yellow, red and blue to match the wider ID Clips range.
“Identifying pipework shouldn’t be an afterthought, and it shouldn’t slow installers down either,” says Dean Heathfield, Commercial Director at Talon. “Our ID Clips let tradespeople build identification into the install itself simply by choosing the right colour clip as they go. It’s a small change that makes a real difference to safety and confidence on site, whether that’s a plumber tracing a hot feed months later or a homeowner working out which pipe is which.”
Talon ID Clips are available in 15mm, 22mm and 28mm sizes (colour-dependent), sold in both trade bags and bulk boxes.
