The battery-enabled boiler business announces Herve Dehareng’s arrival alongside £5.5M investment
Luthmore, the zero-emission alternative to the gas-combi boiler, has appointed former Dyson Senior Innovation Director, HerveDehareng, as its new CEO. The Chippenham-based business has also secured £5.5M investment through its latest funding round, contributing to a total of £12.4 million raised within three years for its first-of-a-kind technology.
With nearly two decades at Dyson, Dehareng led global launches of some of the company’s most recognisable innovations — including the Dyson hand dryers and the bladeless fan and heater — bringing deep experience in scaling pioneering products at an international level.
His appointment marks a pivotal moment for Luthmore as it embarks on its next phase of growth. Under his leadership, the business aims to accelerate its mission to support installers ahead of government plans to decarbonise home heating across the UK.
The leadership announcement coincides with Luthmore’s latest, heavily oversubscribed £5.5M funding round. The funding round also includes a £1m investment from the British Business Bank’s South West Investment Fund delivered through appointed fund manager The FSE Group. The investment will enable the company to expand production, accelerate product development and bring its pioneering technology to more homes through installer partners. Luthmore also plans to grow its installer support offering, including enhanced onboarding, more training at its Chippenham HQ aligned with CIPHE (Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering), and a greater library of online resources.
Speaking on his appointment, Herve Dehareng said: “When I first saw what the Luthmore team had created, it was exciting to me. This is a real solution to a problem we are all facing in the UK — the need to decarbonise heating without compromising comfort or cost.
“I want to make the Luthmore boiler the Electric Vehicle equivalent for home heating within three years. Luthmore’s technology is not only innovative but practical, making clean heat accessible to more people.
“Looking ahead, our priority is to scale our production, continue to support and train our installer partners, and ensure we are delivering quality into homes across the UK. I’m proud to be joining an innovative team committed to quality and making a meaningful difference for both consumers and the environment.”
Founded in 2022 by ex-Dyson engineers Craig Wilkinson and Martin Gutkowski, Luthmore’s 30-strong team applies British innovation to tackle the challenges of high-emission home heating. The Luthmore boiler is powered by six non-rare-earth Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, offering instant hot water and reliable central heating with zero emissions. It takes a plug and play approach to installation – enabling decarbonisation at scale. Compact, quiet and easy to install, it provides a cost-effective solution for households and social housing providers.
Luthmore has already trained over 30 installers to fit the Luthmore boiler via its free, half-day training course at its base in Chippenham, as part of its commitment to providing installers with more net-zero heating solutions for consumers.
