A leading copper manufacturer and supplier is investing £25 million in improvements across the business now and deep into 2026 to help futureproof the firm in the face of an ever-changing industry.

Lawton Tubes, a Coventry-based firm supplying copper tube and components to the plumbing, air conditioning, medical gas and engineering sectors in the UK and abroad, is making the investment to drive its future growth as its customers continue to evolve.

The 107-year-old family-run company, which turned over £230 million last year, is undertaking a major transformation programme in a bid to boost employment across all areas of the business.

It started with handheld tablets for its logistics team and a new ticketing system for managing internal and external issues to improve its existing warehousing solutions.

Building on these improvements, the company will be introducing a new enterprise resource planning system, an overhaul of its HR system, and appointments such as its new Operations Improvement Manager, Danielle White.

The improvements are set to be fully implemented in time for the opening of its new £20 million headquarters, which will strengthen the company’s operational base and create a modern environment for staff and visitors. The additional space will support future growth and allow teams to work more efficiently across departments.

Construction is set to begin on the new HQ in 2026, subject to planning permission being granted and a main contractor being appointed.

Robert Lawton, a Director at Lawton Tubes, said the scale of the investment demonstrates the family’s commitment to strengthening the business for the decades ahead, as well as laying stronger foundations for the company’s continuing diversification and growth.

“We have never taken the future for granted,” he said.

“While we’ve seen significant success in recent years, we realised our processes needed enhancing to keep us moving forward as new innovations such as AI become increasingly integrated into working life.

“Opening a new headquarters and investing in better systems is about giving our people the environment, tools and support they need to work much more efficiently and allows us to not only grow but to enhance our product offerings. It’s an exciting step and a sign of how serious we are about the future of Lawton Tubes.”

The upgrades will streamline operations, improve communication and give customers quicker, clearer responses across all the sectors Lawton Tubes supplies into. New warehouse technology will support faster and more accurate processing, which is especially important in industries where reliability and precision are vital.

Danielle added: “We understand the pressures and expectations within the construction industry including plumbing and heating, HVAC, medical gas and engineering, and we want to stay one step ahead in how we support them.

“The improvements across our systems and processes, alongside the opening of our new HQ, will enable us to service more customers than ever before.”
