In case you missed it, at InstallerSHOW we announced our Heating Installer Awards 2025 winners. Now we’re celebrating the best in the business.
With hundreds of entries, standout regional finalists and an intense judging process, these are the installers who rose to the top.
National Winner & HVAC Installer of the Year 2025
Craig Gilhome from Prudhoe in Northumberland.
Having won the title of Best Heating Installer in the North East earlier in the year, Craig went on to beat finalists from all other regions in the UK, and takes home the coveted award.
Craig entered the awards with a project that he had completed on an 18-room house on an old farm. The remit saw him plan a complex project which required him to install a ground source heat pump, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, underfloor heating and more!
In addition to the national title, Craig also brought home the winner’s trophy for Best HVAC Installer 2025, which was a new award introduced last year, making Craig the second ever winner. The award celebrates installers who have delivered a system to customers that not only heats but also cools their homes, improving air quality and ventilation.
Most Sustainable Installer 2025
Loughton’s Shaun Bone of Blue Flame MK Ltd, who was awarded Best Installer in the South East earlier in the year, was presented with the award for the UK’s Best Sustainable Installer 2025.
Shaun’s original entry featured work he had completed for an old 1900s farm house with four bedrooms, where he was tasked with designing an efficient low temperature heating system for the rural home. Shaun installed an air source heat pump and other sustainable measures for the homeowners, which runs much more efficiently than their previous oil boiler, saving energy costs.
He recently documented how he’d returned to check on the system, to find the heat pump working in perfect harmony with the underfloor heating and wall insulation.
Rising Star Winner 2025
Jessica Rose from Herefordshire was crowned the industry’s 2025 Rising Star. Having been shortlisted from dozens of entries earlier in the year, Jessica out-performed finalists from across the UK to take home the coveted award.
Jessica is a City & Guilds Level 3 Gas Operative and has worked on her apprenticeship for just over six months. Her original entry demonstrated problem-solving abilities, including issues in oil servicing, breakdowns and installations, and this has helped her to learn something completely new outside of her gas qualification.
She then went on to complete a technical challenge as part of the judging process, which saw her score highly and seal the win.
National Runner Up Winner 2025
Joshua Bond of Off Grid Plumbing and Heating Ltd from Cornwall was awarded the Heating Installer Awards 2025 National Runner Up trophy, and has worked in the county for over 15 years to provide services spanning plumbing, heating and renewables.
Earlier in the year Joshua won the title of Best Heating Installer in the South West, and today’s announcement saw him overcome competition from all but one other regional winner.
Joshua’s original entry featured work completed for an 1800’s cottage heating system which he brought into the 21st century. The existing property had no central heating, and so Joshua recommended Hydrated Vegetable Oil (HVO) boilers for an efficient and environmentally friendly heating system.
All winners of the awards will receive industry-wide recognition and a variety of prizes courtesy of the awards’ partners and sponsors CIPHE, The IPG, Polypipe Building Products, Refresh, Samsung Climate Solutions, Stelrad, Powered Now, Big Wipes and Fernox.
Commenting on his win, Craig said: “I’ve seen how winning this award can change the future for an installer, and I’m just so humbled to win in 2025. The people I’ve been up against are some of the biggest names in the trade today. I knew I’d done a great job on a really challenging project, and I’m so happy that the work I put in has been recognised – thank you everyone.”
