Kevin Wellman, CEO of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE), was honoured with a coveted InstallerMERIT award at InstallerSHOW 2025.

The award is given to a select number of individuals each year in recognition of their outstanding achievements within the UK plumbing, heating, and electrical industries. An annual celebration and gala dinner shines a light on those who go above and beyond their roles and volunteer their time to benefit good causes and further the advancement of the sector.

Held at the end of the show’s first day, the awards give the industry a chance to reflect and celebrate the people who truly make a difference. This year, our CEO, Kevin Wellman, was among those highlighted for their achievements and dedication.

Four decades of commitment
After joining CIPHE in 1985, Kevin’s award marks a milestone of 40 years of service to the plumbing and heating profession. That’s four decades dedicated to improving standards and the industry’s growth, ensuring that the health and safety of the public remains at the core of the industry.

It’s no exaggeration to say that plumbing and heating professionals play a crucial role in our everyday lives. From ensuring homes are warm and safe to safeguarding the water supply, the work of those in the trade impacts everyone. Kevin’s tireless efforts to raise awareness of this - and to champion training, regulation, and professional excellence - have continued to leave a lasting mark on the industry.

Leading by example
As CEO of the CIPHE, Kevin has been a strong advocate for professional standards. Under his leadership, CIPHE has continued to highlight the importance of skills, qualifications, and public safety. He has also worked to ensure plumbing and heating professionals get the recognition they deserve. This is something that’s all too important in inspiring those already in the trade, as well as those considering a career in either plumbing or heating.

Beyond his position as CEO, Kevin’s passion and commitment stands out. Whether it’s speaking up on the importance of protecting consumers and tradespeople, or supporting school leavers as they look to enter the working world, his focus has always been on putting the industry and its people first.
