CIPHE launch 2021 manifesto
The Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) has revealed its 2021 manifesto, an update on the 2020 version that called on parliamentarians to understand the huge role the engineering community will play in the future success of the United Kingdom.
Covering major issues such as the safety, health and welfare of the public, the environment, education, and regulation and licensing; the CIPHE’s manifesto sits the plumbing and heating industry in the centre of many key areas of Government policy.
Kevin Wellman, CIPHE CEO, said, “The last 12-months has only served to highlight the critical role played by members of the plumbing and heating industry. In fact, as many areas of the economy were closed or at least drastically reduced, it was tradespeople who continued to provide vital public services and prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of others over that of themselves. What services have been more important than the supply of heat and water during 2020? As we move forwards towards the environmental objectives of the Government, it will be members of the CIPHE and the wider plumbing and heating industry required to make ambitious targets become reality. Now is the time for our collective expertise to be sought and acted upon.
“As the Professional Body for the plumbing and heating industry, and a registered educational charity dedicated to protecting the public, the Institute is uniquely placed to give a voice to the industry, while upholding the interest of the general public on matters that affect their safety, health and welfare. There is overwhelming evidence that the public, and especially the vulnerable, are at risk through badly installed and poorly maintained plumbing and heating systems. Tackling the situation we face, and putting in measures to prevents its recurrence should be an immediate priority. Our 2021 manifesto provides an open door for Government to engage with the industry on how this can be done.”
