Every working day the Institute receives phone calls, faxes and emails from members of the public searching for professional plumbers or looking for help and advice on plumbing and heating related topics.

The Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering is a professional and technical body striving to raise standards of plumbing in the public interest. It is a registered educational charity with around 12,400 members from every sector of the plumbing and heating engineering services industry. Each individual member has to abide by a five point Code of Professional Standards which helps to uphold high standards to protect public health and safety.

As a technical body the Institute has recently re-opened it's Technical Helpline to the public. So if you have a technical query on any plumbing or heating matter, phone the helpline on 0870 414 5533.

Please note: The Technical Helpline is for those seeking technical advice only. Advice is limited to that which can be given without physical inspection of the plumbing/heating system.

The below pdf, Consumer Advice and Information, gives tips and advice on areas such as how to find a plumber and how to deal with a plumbing emergency.
