Nescot is a forward-looking College of Further & Higher Education that serves a large area of South East England with a wide range of vocational and academic courses, both full and part time. The College is situated in Ewell, close to Epsom in Surrey, and is located in the green belt near Epsom Downs.
At Nescot we want to help the learner succeed in their ambitions. Our students value our welcoming, friendly and caring atmosphere. Our lively learning community helps to make the most of their learning experience at the College.
Our range of courses attracts students from the local community, nationally and from overseas. These include Further Education, Higher Education, professional, leisure, short, full and part-time courses. We pride ourselves in being able to offer courses which meet the educational needs of our students, and in giving them the freedom to develop as an individual. The College offers progression routes at all levels and to our own Higher Education courses in conjunction with a number of Universities including Surrey, Kingston and Kent.
We are committed to ensuring that the students achieve their qualification and personal goals in their studies. To help them succeed, we provide support for their learning in various ways, from careers advice, counselling, financial advice, and health to focused learning support in class.
The College is dynamic and ambitious and aims to move towards ‘Outstanding’. With our Principal at the helm and a new management team the College has made great strides forward in all areas. The College had a good Ofsted inspection with no failing curriculum areas.
Due to expansion, we now require an assessor to deliver/assess plumbing and gas onsite assessments, necessary for learners to complete their NVQ level 2 and level 3 plumbing and/or gas.
Your main roles will be to monitor and track the students’ progress towards their qualifications and carry out on-site assessment and completing the relevant paperwork. You will also be required to attend standardisation meetings.
Previous relevant vocational experience is required, together with a recognised industry NVQ qualification to level 3 and CCN1 plus elements. Applicants should have experience of assessing in this area and have a working knowledge of apprenticeships. Applicants should hold their A1 Award (or equivalent) and a teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards one).
You must be IT literate with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet skills. You will need to own a car and possess a full UK driving license. You will also have excellent communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to use your own initiative and work independently.
Closing date for applications is Monday 06 June 2011.
