Under the Code of Professional Standards that all members of the CIPHE agree to abide by, members are required to participate in Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and the CIPHE currently recommends that members should obtain 30 hours of CPD on an annual basis. Recently the CIPHE has launched GreenPlumb, and members who are accepted into the GreenPlumb scheme are required to obtain 15 hours of CPD specific to renewable/sustainable technologies in order to remain on the scheme (this does not have to be an additional 15 hours).
There are many ways in which members can earn CPD hours, including attending training courses and seminars, mentoring employees and apprentices to reading industry publications.
The CIPHE recommends that members should obtain CPD hours under the following activities and provide guidance on maximum hours to be obtained under each. This guidance can be used to help you to complete your CPD record sheet.
Notes:
Please keep copies of CPD record cards and all supporting evidence.
The maximum number of hours that can be claimed for CPD purposes is 7 hours for a full day and 3.5 hours for a half day.
