Royal award for Lee

Lee Davies, deputy chief executive of the Institute for Learning (IfL) received a Highly Commended Certificate from His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh for his contribution to vocational training and development.

Lee started out as a plumber in the 1980s before moving into teaching and now works to enhance the professional status of teachers, tutors and trainers working in further education colleges and other post-school learning contexts.  He developed his career through qualifications and membership of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering. 
 
Said Lee, “The Institute helped me develop my professional identity and gain credibility as a plumbing lecturer. My career has only been possible thanks to the fantastic training and support I’ve received over the years.  I believe that membership of a professional body like the CIPHE is essential for maintaining your level of expertise.”
 
The certificate is part of the selection process for the annual Prince Philip medal, the personal gift of His Royal Highness as president of the City & Guilds of London Institute.
