Blane Judd, chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering has expressed his disappointment that plumbers were not represented at the Waterwise conference held in Oxford last week.
Speakers at the conference included OFWAT, B&Q, Water UK, The Greater London Authority, the Environment Agency and the WWF, but no invitation had been issued to any organisation representing the more than 100,000 plumbers currently working in the UK.
Said Blane Judd: “As the NGO working to reduce water usage and promote water efficiency, Waterwise missed a great opportunity to involve those at the very core of the water debate. Plumbers in the UK spend approximately 150 million hours of time each year with the consumer and their expertise is often relied upon – it’s hard to understand why the very people who do so much to regulate water usage and promote water efficiency should be left out of what was otherwise an excellent and very productive conference. I look forward to receiving an invitation to share the platform next year!”
Ends April 2009
