Water Industry Should Work with Plumbing and Heating Engineering Professionals to Reduce Water Consumption
Following the announcement by Ofwat that water companies must reduce consumer water bills, not increase them, chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering, Blane Judd renewed his call for water companies to work much more closely with the plumbing and heating industry to help consumers reduce water consumption. “Despite the fact that plumbing and heating engineers collectively spend a massive 150 million hours a year in front of consumers, they have been left out of the bigger water picture time after time. It’s their job to know about safe use of water and products that can reduce the amount of water used in homes. Instead of spending even more money on expensive public awareness campaigns engage with our industry to get the key messages home through face to face on-the –job contact with consumers.”
