Apprentice plumber, Adam Bainbridge from Darlington College, has been named the first ever HIP! UK Apprentice Plumber of the Year in a nationwide search to find the nation’s best plumbing apprentice. Sponsored by plumbing trade only supplier, Plumbfix in association with the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE), the HIP! (Heating Engineers, Installers & Plumbers) UK Apprentice Plumber of the Year 2009 Award’s grand final was the culmination of a series of regional heats.
The winners of the heats went through to the final showdown which put their NVQ Level 2 and 3 plumbing skills to the test in a series of head-to-head challenges. Adam, the overall winner, won £1,000 worth of Plumbfix vouchers, £500 worth of vouchers for his college and one year’s public liability insurance and tools cover donated by Trade Direct Insurance.
John Mewett, marketing director for Plumbfix, comments: “Well done to all the apprentices who took part. At Plumbfix we fully support the maintenance of high professional standards in the plumbing industry and it was great to see the new generation of plumbers showcasing their skills and high standards throughout the competition. Congratulations to Adam on his win at the final; we hope he finds his Plumbfix vouchers useful in equipping himself with essential tools and equipment to support him at the start of his career.”
