Preserving skills

According to the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE), there is a shortage of skilled leadwork conservation craftsmen in the UK who are capable of carrying out appropriate repairs to historic buildings. This skills gap could get considerably worse as colleges no longer teach lead plumbing.

New information and guidance issued by CIPHE

The CIPHE has issued the latest document in its Technical Awareness Paper (TAP) series. TAP 002 How to take care of hot and cold water supply systems in unoccupied homes has been authored by CIPHE Past President Stan Tildsley, through the CIPHE’s Safe Water Group.
